Fishing used to be a basic occupation but not it just makes a great hobby. Why is it so loved by people all over the world? Is it because when you take up fishing you have the opportunity to evade from the maddening urban existence and get a chance to finally relax? Probably this is just one reason that’d explain the great joy of fishing. Anyway, despite the relaxation this hobby undoubtedly provides, it can also bring lots of challenges if you want to make it right and with clear successful achievements. Therefore, besides the right fishing tackle, you might also appreciate a fishing tip every once in a while. Friends, fishing books and online web pages are the most reliable and within reach sources for any form of fishing tip you may require.

Nowadays, though, as we live in an age of speed, you might want to look for a fishing tip on the Internet. This is not only faster but also great fun, since during the search you can find some very funny and enlightening fishing stories you can learn lots from. All you have to do is type in the words fishing tip and lots of websites will offer you the fishing information or advice adequate for your inquiry.

More experienced fishermen that post comments in forums, chat rooms and on blogs can give great information on many practical situations. Thus, for ice fishing you may have to change the lure with an airplane jig and put a fresh lively minnow on, every time the bait stops being interesting and the fish do not bite anymore. This common piece of info works great for anyone who wants to catch pike or walleye.

Consider this other good suggestion and fishing tip for boat angling situations. It is best to take as many fishing rods with you as possible and also have them pre-rigged with different lures. If you do so, you will not waste so much time doing it but you will get the chance to actually fish more. Whether this is a useful fishing tip or not, it’s for you to decide.

Regarding catching a good-size fish, a fishing tip says to combine baits on the same hook. Thus, stick both corn and crawlers on the same hook so as to increase the odds for a good catch. Almost any challenge a fisherman comes across can become an educational experience that accumulates as the fundamental knowledge specific for the activity.

Alaska Salmon Fishing Video

When you hear people talking about salmon fishing, the discussion usually gets to involve Alaska somehow and probably for a very good reason. Alaska remains a famous salmon habitat and the right place to try your fishing skills at catching these very noble fish. Not only the activity in itself offers great rewards, but fishermen come to accumulate very solid knowledge about the salmon subspecies, their role in the river food chain, their special breeding habits and the like.

Alaska salmon fishing has often been extensively criticized that it endangers the survival of the species, given the increased demand for salmon delicacies on the market. The subject remains a hot topic and there are states where forbid salmon fishing by law particularly during the mating season. Search on the Internet for more comprehensive data on the elements that ruin good salmon fishing or on the contrary increase the chances of success in the best of conditions for the environment. Many authors, who are enthusiast salmon fishers too, feel the need to share their experiences with other fellow-fishermen who want to try Alaska salmon fishing, and from such sources plenty of things can be learned by the less experienced in the field.

The king salmon swims in the waters of Alaska traveling a long way from marine natural habitat in search of superior water purity to lay its eggs. The king salmon shares the same territory with the silver variety, and even if there is a difference in the appearance and the size of the subspecies, they present common features. They will surely give you the excitement of a unique salmon fishing experience. You can fish the king salmon all year round in both fresh and salt water. Although the red salmon can be found in both types of water, in some areas they remain in the cold rivers of Alaska; Besides this peculiarity, they also distinguish themselves by the smaller size.

Saltwater salmon fishing is best performed by trolling or angling a baited line and drawing it into the water, usually at the rear of the boat. Then, as for the best times for salmon fishing, cloudy days are the most rewarding as on bright sunny days the salmon will keep to the deep holes. Anyway, reviews and popular opinion indicate Alaska as the right place to go salmon fishing, but there could be other places nearer to your home that you may want to try. Good luck!

Saltwater fishing reels are the part of the fishing gear without which the retrieval of the fishing line would not be possible; the reel as such also uses a spool and an axle for easy operation. Used traditionally in angling, a recreational sport, the fishing reel is most often used together with the fishing rod. However, there are specialized reels which are mounted directly on the boat gunwales or transoms. In case you are interested in this kind of information, the first use of a fishing reel is mentioned in the documents around 1190 AD. A Chinese painting illustrates the device, with the equipment being presented in 12th century official documents. In America, George Snyder is recognized as the inventor of the fishing reel.

One other fishing reel detail that deserves all the attention is design variety that makes selection pretty difficult sometimes. In time, as fishing developed, fishermen invented different items in the fishing gear, specialized for the different fishing occupations. What makes fishing different? The kind of fish you are after makes the crucial decisive factor for the choice of the fishing reel, but the waters and the season also become selection factors.

The saltwater fishing reel variety is quite impressive. Worth mentioning for the sake of exemplification are spin cast reels, center-pin reels, bait casting models, fixed-spool types as well as under-spins and so on. Each type of fishing reel has its own characteristics and mode of operating, which you should definitely be familiar with in order to make the best of the fishing expedition.

Details on the mechanisms of saltwater fishing reels could prove helpful under certain circumstances. When technical features get under discussion both reels and drags are important to analyze. The coupling between the spool and the handle in the direct-drive fishing reel needs no intermediary item; therefore when the handle goes in one direction the spool makes the same movement. In an anti-reverse fishing reel, on the other hand, there is a mechanism which lets the line play out while the handle stays motionless. The drag mechanism is a means of applying pressure on the rotating spoon to a variable extent. The purpose of the drag mechanism in the fishing reel is to provide the right amount of friction to the line.

Saltwater fishing gear is called fishing tackle by specialists and hobbyists, and it generally refers to rods, lines, hooks, sinkers, spears, lures, baits, reels, nets, and so on. Some of these items belong to the fishing gear known as terminal tackle which usually covers snaps, sinkers, swivels and hooks.

Etymologically speaking, the “tackle” as fishing equipment originates from ‘takel’ which initially meant the rigging of a ship, that is, the rope supports necessary for a ship’s masts and sails. Later the same word was recorded to have a different meaning, that of apparatus for fishing and that meaning has been preserved ever since.

The standard fishing equipment includes a rod, a line, a hook, a lure, a bait and a sinker. The line is a basic cord manufactured according to a specific pattern to be both resistant and nearly invisible for fish. There are various things that an angler asks about when buying a fishing line such as resistance, stretch, strength and so on. The line will be selected based on the size and the species peculiarities of the fish he/she intends to catch.

The sinker, also called a plummet, is made form a weight that allows the fisherman to cast the line with the hook farther from the shore or the boat. They are usually made of lead as their purpose is to get underwater quickly attracting the attention of fish to the bait. In some parts of the world, lead can no longer be included in the fishing equipment because of its high toxicity level. If ingested by bird species or other fish, the lead causes the death of the animal.

Another basic type of fishing equipment is the hook. This is a device meant for attaching the bait and for impaling the fish mouth. These sharp “claws” get attached to the line; and the angler can take the pick from a large array of hook sizes, materials and shapes.

Last but not least, the fishing equipment relies on baits and lures for efficiency. The lure is an item of material hung at the end of the line that looks and moves like something resembling the prey of the fish you are after. Its purpose is to catch the attention of the fish with its color, movement and vibrations. When the fish goes for the lure, it gets hooked. Bait, on the other hand, is the actual item attached to the hook and intended to be attacked and eaten by the fish. Bait can be natural including insects, little fish or worms, or artificial made of fabric or plastic materials.

In late fall, Lake Erie is the place for trophy walleye. Right now, anglers willing to brave the cold have the opportunity to catch some of the biggest fish of the year. The reason the large walleye are cruising the Ohio coasts of Lake Lake Erie is because the gizzard shad are schooling along these same areas getting ready for winter.

Boat anglers typically troll crankbaits and stickbaits behind planer boards in areas close to shore, sometimes in as little as 10’ of water.Baits, such as Reef Runners and Rapalas, are fished in the upper portion or the water column to intercept active fish. Successful anglers tend to fish deeper during the day, pulling baits higher as night approaches. The best time to catch the monster walleye is after dark, many trophy lake erie walleye are caught during darkness. The best areas include Huron, Ruggles Reef, Vermilion, and Cleveland. Hot baits this year have been Reef Runners in Lights Out, Purple Bear Naked and Chartreuse Wonderbread.

Shore-bound anglers get their best shot at Lake Erie walleye during this time of year as well. Piers at Catawba State Park, Lakeside, Huron, Lorain, and Cleveland are often lined with anglers casting Rattle traps and Rapala Husky Jerks throughout the night.

This can be hit-or-miss this time of year, but if you happen to be there when the walleye are herding schools of shad against the piers, be prepared for a memorable night of fishing. Of course, fishing during this time of year requires special considerations for safety and comfort. Warm clothing is a must, especially after dark; several companies make insulated coveralls with the added benefit of USCG-approved flotation that are ideally suited for cold-water boating. Wet boat decks and piers can freeze quickly, so adequate footwear and caution is recommended; traction aids designed for ice fishing can be very helpful.

Fishing after dark requires additional preparation. Headlamps are necessary for pier anglers and boaters, alike. Boaters should check for functional navigation lights, ship-to-shore radio, and GPS before departure. Boaters should place lights on planer boards as both a safety precaution and a fishing aid. Following your trip, special attention should be paid to draining all water from the boat bilge and outdrive/outboard to prevent damage by ice formation. Pier anglers need also to have a good fishing neck with a extremely long handle to reach down from the pier to water level. Following these recommendations will ensure a safe and memorable night on the water.

Sport Fishing Boats Video

A sport fishing boat used in catching big game fish should be an angler’s best friend. If you take fishing as a hobby and buying a boat is part of your plans, then you may look for the smaller-sized ones of about twenty feet or so.

Sport fishing boats should be reliable, however, as they are meant to help you withstand bad weather at sea, they should also provide speed and safety to you or your crew. The larger the fishing boat, the more extensive the crew and the capacity of the vessel to store captured fish.

Although having a personal sport fishing boat for leisure activities sounds great, very few people actually buy one. Most anglers would rather hire a boat, get to the fishing areas and return it when they get back on land. Having your own fishing boat with all the required electronic equipment for orientation and location may turn up very expensive.

Not only will some anglers rent a fishing boat but they will also hire a crew or captain who knows the fishing grounds very well and can easily direct them to sea area where the looked for type of fish live. Even so, only the equipment and the hiring of the boat may cost pretty much for a regular middle class angler to afford. That is why wealthy anglers are the ones to profit the most from such services

As far as the fishing boat types are concerned, vessels come in many different shapes and sizes. Some are built for commercial purposes while others are meant for recreational fishing only. The first type of fishing boat ever used by a human being looked more like a canoe and it surely remain around the shores. Nowadays, our technologies allow us a great deal and boats have enlarged in size and scope as well. The commercial fishing boat, for example, can really impress the viewer if we were to consider not only the size but the storage capacity too.

The most well known type of fishing boat used for commercial purposes is the trawler that is equipped with many nets so as to maximize the volume of the capture. Other vessels worth mentioning include seiners. Long liners, factory ships and so on. They are designed up to such quality standards and according to internationally used manufacturing procedures that they are virtually risk free for the crew.

The recreational fishing boat covers a wide range of sizes and formats that include flounder boats, pontoons, charters and kayaks. Presently, many people choose to buy a boat for leisure activities rather than for fishing.

Big Game Fishing Video

Even though this term might make you think of ocean fishing, big game fishing refers to that which is performed in waters as large as or larger than lakes. Rivers and ponds are considered unsuitable for big game fishing as the water is too shallow for most of the cases. Big game fishing out in coastal waters that make the habitat of lots of large fish species.

Big game fishing needs large vessels for the operation in order to transport and maneuver the catch. Such a boat is designed in such a way so as to accommodate the crew and leave room for the equipment necessary for deep sea fishing. Such a is boat intended to stand against storms and bad weather at sea and to facilitate the access in the fishing area fast and safely.

Marlins, sailfish, swordfish, tunas and even sharks get caught during deep sea fishing. There are also smaller types of fish species captured at the same time with these large ones; however, the latter are not part of the plan. Such fish represent by-catch or even bait for other larger fish.

Deep sea fishing became a basic occupation in coastal areas, allowing people to earn their living, and later it turned into business. California, Nova Scotia, Hawaii, Florida, New Zealand are among the most common of locations. One of the advantages of those areas is that the possibility of catching big fish along the coasts is triple as compared to other regions where the various large species live in deeper waters.

Big game fishing depends on several techniques out of which the first to mention is trolling, that is a form of angling performed by drawing a baited line on the bottom of the ocean. The bait usually looks like squid or other smaller fish regularly used for bait and it is used at the rear of the boat. The stabilizers behind the boat also called outriggers work great in spreading and enlarging the area designed for catching the fish. Another technique is the chumming or chunking which requires that large pieces of bait fish get thrown overboard in order to attract the larger wanted species.

All in all, deep sea fishing has reached unparalleled proportions in terms of extent because of the larger market consume. Presently, diet variations with fish dishes have actually become an epitome of healthy living, and many people give up red meat for this white lighter variety.

It sits on two pontoons on either side of the fisherman. These pontoons can either be solid air bladders or inflatable. The pontoon hulls are in a V hull position. That is why it can greatly minimizes water resistance when paddling and allows for perfect maneuverability. The pontoons of the sport fishing boat are connected by a frame and contain a sitting area for the angler and paddles. And similarly to that of a rowboat, pontoon fishing boats are paddled. The frame of the pontoon fishing boat makes paddling a breeze when the wind is contained. It is possible to feel a glide through water with a pontoon fishing boat.

The most popular fishing boats for fly fishing now are the fiberglass fishing boats and the pontoon fishing boats. Pontoon fishing boats are relatively new and only became available in the 1980’s. Their ease of use and economic value makes them caught on quickly. The fly fishing boats have become very popular in the fishing community. Compare to the small dinghy type fishing boat, they sit much higher than. The chair sits higher and the balance is so evenly distributed makes it easier to cast. They are lightweight and are easily put onto a trailer. Many fishermen who own these pontoon fishing boats keep them in a marina where they are used and maintained. Bringing his fishing tackle and ice chest to the marina is all the fisherman has to do to set to go. These small fishing boats are very durable and extremely rugged. They are very easy to be operated due to the V shaped pontoon hulls. They can make quick turns and long paddles across flat water.

Beside all the features above, these pontoon fishing boats are also very versatile and are equally at home on rivers or lakes. They can also run white water. It is not hard to fit the inflatable pontoons into most trunks. The solid air bladders can fit into the back of a pick-up truck. It is possible to pack and set them up or put them on the back of a mini trailer. Plenty of little compartments for storage of necessities are also included. It is a great family fishing boat for teaching the young son or grandson how to fly fish. And it will be more advantageous with pontoon fishing boat.

The discovery of new areas, building trade connection with these area and their conquest have almost been synonymous with people’s fascination with boating and sailing. The Phoenicians, the Vikings, the Micronesians, the English and even the Americans with their fast clippers have all harnessed the winds to promote their respective objectives, and gloried in the resultant negative and positive consequences.

More are Sailing nowday

With the comming of engines, you would think that boating and sailing will decline from people’s list of entertainments. Paradoxically, people are sailing today more and more than ever. In two-man dinghies to Cup boats; in outrigger canoes to twin-hull catamarans; in kayaks and party barges; in home-built prams of a few dollars to multi-million-dollar sailing yachts, people are boating and sailing solo, in tandem, in crews, in groups. Across lakes and up rivers, against the waves and with the winds, more and more people are boating and sailing for adventure, relaxation, recreation and livelihood.

The Mystique of Sailing

However what is so amazing about boating and sailing? Perhaps the psychic lure of the sea, for one. Scientists propose that man came from the sea through evolution, so maybe we still have that primeval instinct to return to the sea, and we express it in boating and sailing.

Then there is that confront to pit our skills against nature’s two components: wind and water. Just to prove our humanity: human weakness if we lose, human superiority if we win.

But most probably we sail because we enjoy it, and immensely. Boating and sailing gives us freedom from the binds of daily living by being in a new component—water– while using another component– wind. Being detached from land gives us the feeling that we are in a new world, where new rules, new laws apply. We have closed off the other world of mortgages and bills and routine and drudgery, so that for a while, we live in a world all our own. And if that is only an illusion, it is also an experience.

Go Auckland Harbour Cruising Sailing

So go boating and sailing with friends in a yacht, for a dreamy afternoon of doing nothing. Or on your own daysailer exploring your area’s coves and bays, sleeping at dusk and waking at sunrise, wishing everyday will be just like this day of calm and quiet. Maybe in a small pram creeping into every cove and creek and inlet of the lake, finding something new to see each time you enter one. Whatever is your fancy, boating and sailing will give you a hundred and one pleasures, each one different from before. Because the simple act of sailing is enough a thrill of its own, each time a total experience, no matter how many time you’ve done it, or how long you’ve been doing it..
